Closing the Gaps in The Loop and The Link!

The Toronto Loop consists of existing trails (and some on-road infrastructure) along the waterfront, the Humber River, Finch Avenue/Finch Hydro Corridor, and the Betty Sutherland, Don Mills and Don River Trails. The ten remaining gaps in this 75-km loop amount to less than 5,500 metres but undermine the potential value of a closed circuit and thwart greater use of the bicycle for health, affordability, transportation, recreation, and climate action.

The Scarborough Link includes the Taylor Massey Creek Trail, the Gus Harris Trail, the proposed West Scarborough Rail Trail and the Meadoway Trail. It would connect with the Don Valley Trail creating a 25 km
active transportation corridor and ribbon of recreational greenspace from Lake Ontario to Rouge National Urban Park connecting all of Scarborough and the entire city.

Gaps in the Loop Trail

1. Dufferin Street and Finch Ave (G Lord Ross Park) - Ward 6, York Centre.

4. Mid Humber Gap (the giant stairway) - York South - Weston. After many years this gap is officially slated for closure with a trail through the golf course, but resistance continues.

5. Yonge crossing at Hendon/Bishop (near Finch) - Willowdale.

6. Weston Rd, south of Finch Ave - Humber River-Black Creek.(closure of this gap has been approved, but it helps to push for timely implementation).

7. Duncan Mills Rd exit from Betty Sutherland Trail to York Mills Rd - Don Valley East.

8. Stephen Drive from top of South Humber Trail - Ward 3.

9. Old Mill Trail Rd bridge over Humber River - Ward 4, Ward 3.
