The Issue

The West Scarborough Rail Trail is a legacy project integral to Toronto’s Active Transportation Network that is in immediate jeopardy of being cancelled forever.  We need your support now to make the West Scarborough Rail Trail a reality.

The proposed West Scarborough Rail Trail is a 3-kilometre undeveloped trail that runs from Warden Subway Station to Kennedy Subway Station along a Hydro and rail corridor.  It was first envisioned over 50 years ago by University of Toronto grad students, supported by the last 3 local councillors and included in the Warden Woods Secondary Plan.  It is the missing link between established trails that would create a continuous cycle and pedestrian trail system from Lake Ontario to the Meadoway and Rouge National Urban Park.

It is now in peril from the TTC wanting to create a “pocket track” to park two trains overnight on the historic GECO rail bridge and rail line that are integral to the trail. The TTC is seeking operational control over the city owned rail lands and bridge and cancellation of the trail.

We need your help NOW to Save the West Scarborough Rail Trail.  The active transport, connectivity, recreation, economic and tourism benefits to the trail are immeasurable. Please sign the petition to show politicians and decision makers that the West Scarborough Rail Trail is important to our community and all of Toronto.
