WEST SCARBOROUGH RAIL TRAIL COMMUNITY MEETING FEBRUARY 22, 2:30 - 4:00PM ALBERT CAMPBELL LIBRARY

The historic GECO Bomb Girls Rail bridge is vital to the creation of the West Scarborough Rail Trail. The WSRT would be an important community connector, a cycling and hiking corridor and a ribbon of recreational greenspace for our community. The WSRT would link already existing trails to the north and south to create a 25 km Connect Toronto Trail from Lake Ontario to Rouge National Urban Park via the Meadoway. In addition, it would link to the proposed 72 km Loop Trail that rings central and west Toronto creating a 100km active transportation network linking the entire city.

TTC plans to use the historic GECO bridge at Warden Station to build a two-train pocket track would effectively cancel the WSRT and any hopes for a greater Connect Toronto Trail.
