WSRT Jane’s Walk
Sunday May 3

Warden Hilltop Community Centre, 25 Mendelssohn St, Scarborough, ON M1L

The creation of the West Scarborough Rail Trail is threatened by TTC plans to build a two-train pocket track at Warden Subway Station.
We invite you to join one of 4 hikes that cater to every level of hiker to learn about the trail and ways you can support its creation.
The WSRT was first proposed over 50 years ago by U of T graduate students, was affirmed at City Council in 2005, is included in the Warden Woods Secondary Plan and endorsed by the last 3 local city council members. Now the TTC wants to park two empty trains overnight on the historic GECO “Bomb Girls” bridge and rail bed that is critical for the creation of the WSRT.
The trail follows a Hydro corridor, the historic GECO bridge and rail bed and a CN Rail line from Warden Subway Station to Kennedy Subway Station. The West Scarborough Rail Trail is the missing link in what could be a 25 km trail system connecting Lake Ontario to Rouge National Park via the Don Valley Trail and the Meadoway.
