CLOSE THE GAPS - SCARBOROUGH LINK AND LOOP RIDES - INFORMATION

RIDE THE LOOP TRAIL AND SCARBOROUGH LINK AND CONNECT TORONTO!

Join the Ride to Close the Gaps in The Loop Trail and Scarborough Link and Create a 100 km World Class, Off-street Pedestrian and Cycling Trail Network.

Date: Sunday, September 27, 2026

Details: Community Bikeways Toronto, Scarborough Junction Community and Scarborough Cycles are joining forces to offer two separate rides on Sunday September 27 to highlight The Loop Trail and the Scarborough Link and the importance of “closing the gaps” in these two important trails.  Both rides will be starting at 9:00am with the 75 km Loop Trail Ride starting in the Distillery District and the 21 km Scarborough Link Ride starting at Warden Hilltop Community Centre near Warden Subway Station.  The two groups will meet at Coxwell Ravine Park at the junction of the Don Valley Trail and the Taylor Massey Creek Trail at 9:45am for a short 15 minute rally before continuing on their respective rides.  Limited parking is available there.

Background: The purpose of these rides is to bring attention to several gaps in both the Loop Trail and the Scarborough Link. The goal is to create an accessible, continuous and safe ride or walk for all Torontonians by creating linking trails, minimizing on-street sections and creating safe walking and riding conditions on-street where necessary.

The Loop is a 75 km trail that encircles the central part of Toronto.  The Loop includes the Don Valley Trail, the Finch Hydro Corridor, the Humber Valley Trail and the Martin Goodman Trail along the waterfront.  There are only 5 km of gaps that need to be addressed in the Loop.

The Scarborough Link connects with the Don Valley Trail and the Meadoway and includes the Taylor Massey Creek Trail, the Gus Harris Trail and the proposed West Scarborough Rail Trail. There are 4 km of gaps to address on the Scarborough Link Trail. The creation of the West Scarborough Rail Trail would be the missing link in a 25 km trail from Lake Ontario to Rouge National Urban Park.

Quotes: “Closing the gaps in these trails would create over 100km of continuous, safe, off-street hiking and cycling connections all across Toronto!” – Misha Perozak, WSRT Organizer
